Golden Time

Golden Time is a celebration of children’s success. Children earn their Golden Time by working hard and keeping the school rules, it is a special time for everyone to look forward to. Children who have worked hard all week are rewarded with the full 45 minutes of Golden Time. Children who have repeatedly broken school rules lose Golden Time in 5 min blocks. They have opportunities to earn this back but if they don’t manage, they spend this time with Mr Roberts or Ms Lamont discussing strategies they can use to not lose Golden Time again next week.

Golden Time takes place on a Friday afternoon from 2.15pm to 3.00pm. Earlier in the week children in all classes choose their Golden Time activity by signing up for a club. Clubs are run by school staff, parent volunteers and youth workers from Oldmachar Church and vary from term to term. Some of the more popular clubs include:

  • Cooking club
  • Computers and Ipads
  • Hama beads
  • Art/Drawing
  • Photography
  • Coding
  • Outdoor Club
  • Chill Out

Children from all classes attend these clubs and enjoy having the opportunity to work with pupils of different ages. Many children enjoy sharing their skills to support younger children within the club. Staff enjoy working with pupils who are not in their class and children have the chance to develop positive relationships with many staff members.

We all work hard to ensure Golden Time is enjoyable for everyone!
